The Colorado Springs Health Foundation (CSHF) seeks a volunteer to serve on its Board of Trustees starting early 2024. The foundation makes grants to local nonprofits and tax-supported organizations addressing the most critical health issues in the Pikes Peak region.
CSHF focuses its funding on expanding access to healthcare, preventing suicide, preventing or healing trauma and cultivating healthy environments, specifically access to food, access to physical activity and transitional or affordable housing. The foundation was established in 2012, when the people of Colorado Springs voted to lease Memorial Health System to UCHealth and use the proceeds to benefit the health and wellness of the Pikes Peak Region for generations to come. Since then the foundation has awarded more $40 million in grants to improve community health.
The Mayor nominates and City Council appoints an 11-member Board of Trustees to govern the ongoing affairs of the Colorado Springs Health Foundation. Trustees must be at least 21 years of age and residents of El Paso or Teller Counties. Trustees are eligible to serve up to three, 3-year terms.
Based on current Board needs, the ideal candidate will have knowledge, expertise, and experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Public Health/Population Health
- Social Determinants of Health
- Local Underinvested Communities
- Local Education (any levels, early childhood; K-12; higher ed)
- Transitional or Affordable Housing
The candidate should also help the board reflect the rich diversity of the region. This is a volunteer position and requires a minimum commitment of eight hours per month.
