Notice Under Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964
In accordance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the City of Colorado Springs (“City”) will not discriminate against qualified individuals on the basis of race, color, national origin, or any other protected class under state and federal law, in the City’s programs or activities.
Effective Communication
The City will generally, upon request, provide appropriate auxiliary aids and services leading to effective communication for qualified persons with Limited English Proficiency (LEP) so they can participate equally in the City’s programs and activities, including foreign language and qualified sign language interpreters, document translation, documents in alternative formats, and other ways of making information and communications accessible to people who primarily communicate in a language other than English or people who are hard of hearing, have low vision, or a speech disability.
Surcharges
The City will not place a surcharge on a particular individual or any group of individuals to cover the cost of providing language interpretation services, translation of written documents, auxiliary aids/services, reasonable accommodations, or modifications of policy.
Requesting LEP Accommodations
If you require an auxiliary aid or service for effective communication, or a modification of policies or procedures to participate in a City program or activity, please contact the Office of Accessibility or the department providing the program or activity as soon as possible, but no later than 48 hours before the scheduled event.
